Thomasine is a peer recovery specialist who “has been there,” and knows, personally, that recovery is possible.
Thomasine can get you Medication Assisted Treatment, which is safe for you and your baby – keeping you free of withdrawal, and giving you a chance to take care of yourself.
She can also help you obtain medical care, therapeutic support and housing.
“Each of the women I meet know that I have been where they are,” Thomasine shares. “I have a deep hole in my arm from shooting heroin. It an insidious drug that will capture you. So, I come from a place of knowing. And of understanding. The women know that I am there for one reason – to help them and their baby. I tell them, ‘Wherever you go, you’re still going to take you with you. You don’t live outside. Your live inside. So, that’s where you have to work. On the inside.’”
The Mission has partnered with HomeFront, Catholic Charities, Henry J. Austin Health Center, Trenton Health Team and Capital Health to provide you and your baby with expert care.
“I lost myself. I became homeless and was living on the streets,” Nicole shared.
Then she became pregnant.
“I knew I had to choose: What can I live without? And I knew I could not live without my daughter. So I had to live without drugs,” Nicole reflected. That’s when she reached out to Thomasine.
