The Rescue Mission of Trenton cut the ribbon on its newest sober-living home in West Trenton on Thursday. Community members, political leaders, news stations and local organizations all came out to witness the opening at the West State street home.

The 3-story house will be home to five formerly homeless individuals who are in recovery. Each resident has completed the recovery program at The Mission and completed an interview process with The Mission’s supportive services team. The program is transitional, giving residence a temporary opportunity to live independently through The Mission before transitioning into a fully independent living situation. 

“Trenton residents are so deserving of an opportunity like this. The tenants that we interviewed to come into our residence are so excited and happy to get a fresh start with us. They know that we will always be their family. And when they transition beyond here, we are their extended family,” said Chief of Supportive Services, Du’Ewa Edwards-Dickson.

“I have found these residents who are in early recovery one of the greatest steps for them in that next transition out of treatment is to live together in community, to learn how to hold each other accountable, and to learn to become a member of their community and society again,” said Rescue Mission of Trenton CEO, Barrett Young.
