TRENTON, New Jersey (WPVI) — Whether it’s a cup of coffee, a conversation, or a car ride on the road to recovery, the ‘Rescue Mission of Trenton’ is meeting people where they are.

Rescue Mission of Trenton is known for offering shelter and other services to men and women in the Mercer County area. However, in 2022, they debuted their mobile unit to bring services on the road.

Chalia Perry is one among several peer recovery specialists who have lived experiences. As someone who formerly struggled with addiction, she now returns to the same streets to help others.

The program is focused on harm reduction, offering people coffee and food, access to healthcare, transportation to doctors or the shelter, and more.

Watch the video above to see how the program works in action.
